BMI is the world leader of student recruitment events and is expanding their portfolio of international events in Asia, The Middle East, Brazil, and Spanish-speaking Latin America, and hence an exciting position has been opened for an event director. In 2022, BMI will operate over 100 in-person and virtual recruitment B2C and B2B events.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Workshop Director to oversee and manage all aspects of our organization's global events and conferences. As the Global Workshop Director, you will be responsible for strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of events on an international scale. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of event management and the ability to navigate diverse cultural contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive global event strategy aligned with the organization's objectives, considering market trends, target audience, and business goals.
  • Event Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute large-scale international events, conferences, and summits, ensuring seamless logistics, budget adherence, and high-quality delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and sponsors to establish strong relationships and ensure successful collaboration throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Develop and manage event budgets, negotiate contracts, monitor expenses, and optimize financial resources to achieve cost-effectiveness and maximize return on investment.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and lead a team of event professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure exceptional performance and growth.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them, including health and safety considerations, crisis management, and security protocols.
  • Event Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement effective event marketing strategies, including digital and traditional channels, to drive attendance and enhance brand awareness.
  • Post-Event Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of events, gathering feedback from attendees, analysing metrics, and identifying areas for improvement. Use insights to refine future event strategies.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in event management, bringing innovative ideas and fresh perspectives to enhance event experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in managing global events, conferences, or large-scale projects, preferably in an international setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • In-depth knowledge of event management best practices, including logistics, marketing, production, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in utilizing event management software and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally as required to oversee events on-site.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines.
