Job Summary:

The Department of Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver has an opening for a full-time, one-year Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) visiting faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is August 2023.

The Department of Architecture invites qualified applicants at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join a dedicated faculty for a one-year Visiting Professor of Architecture position to commence in August 2023. We encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented groups and candidates, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, with experience teaching and working with diverse communities and students.

The department seeks highly motivated candidates with the capacity to address contemporary issues, have a well-developed teaching pedagogy, and a recognized record for combining design teaching with a progressive scholarly or creative research agenda in the areas of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI). Candidates must demonstrate the potential to teach at the crossroads of design, theory, and practice through studios, lecture courses, and seminars offered to students from diverse backgrounds. Over the course of this 9-month position (August 2023 - May 2024), the JEDI Visiting Professor will engage fully in the college through teaching, creative or scholarly research, and a public lecture or exhibit. This one-year visiting position will support the candidate with research funding and mentorship for the development of a public lecture and an exhibition as part of their term.

Job Responsibilities
Faculty in the College of Architecture and Planning engage in teaching, scholarly/creative work, and service. The percentages allocated are 40% teaching, 40% scholarly/creative work, and 20% service. The standard academic-year teaching load is two courses per semester.

The Department of Architecture delivers a four-year pre-professional program (BS Arch), and a NAAB fully accredited Master of Architecture (M.Arch) for first professional degree students who hold either a non-preprofessional or pre-professional bachelor's degree.     Anticipated Pay Range:

    The salary for this position has been established at:

  • Assistant Professor $80,000 to $85,000

  • Associate Professor $85,000 to $95,000

  • Professor $90,000 to $100,000

    The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
