About Us 

The Strategic Development and Delivery team is a new service directorate that will work in partnership with stakeholders across the institution, combining our specialist expertise, sector knowledge and institutional awareness to support the delivery of our institution strategy Vision 2028 and beyond. The directorate was established in 2023 and brought colleagues across the institution together into one function to form the following service areas: Insights & Decision Support; Strategy & Performance; Portfolio & Benefits; and Change & Improvement. This role represents further investment in the team to secure UEL’s future success. 

About the Job 

We are looking for a leader in delivering statutory returns for universities who will: 

  • Build and lead a team of specialists to deliver HESA and Regulatory returns 
  • Define and establish a clear methodology for all returns in the institution  
  • Ensure continuous improvement in data optimisation  
  • Connect our data returns approach to our data strategy 
  • Act as an authority on statutory data requirements 
  • Create an internal community of returns practitioners  

About You 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in leading teams on Office for Students data returns, including but not limited to HESA Data Futures, HESES, ITT, AOR and ILR. In addition, they will have the confidence and specialist knowledge to coordinate with colleagues across the institution in completing and optimising data. 

We are seeking a candidate to establish and direct a community of practitioners to give confidence in all statutory data returns activity across our university. As a result, and in keeping with our progressive culture, ideal candidates will be innovators and strategic thinkers who can overcome challenges with new ideas.
