Fixed term position available for a period of 26 month.

The School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) is seeking applications for an External Grant (NHMRC Development Grant) Funded Researcher in the area of Biomedical Imaging and Photonics.

The successful candidate will get the opportunity to participate in and lead cross-disciplinary activities within EME core areas and collaborate with world-leading groups in Photonics and Cardiovascular research. There may be opportunities to visit interstate and international collaborators. This researcher will work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop a multimodal intravascular imaging system and fibre-optic probes that enables accurate detection of high-risk plaques that cause a heart attack and sudden cardiac death.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced researcher who is capable of working independently while working collaboratively within an established team. They will bring with them, solid knowledge and experience in either electronics, or software, or optical engineering.

To be successful you will need:

  • Completion of a degree in software, optical, biomedical engineering or physics or have equivalent qualifications or research experience.
  • Strong ability in at least two of: software development, photonics, optics, opto-mechanical systems, and signal and image processing.
  • Experience in working as a team player, preferably within a cross-disciplinary team working on biomedical applications.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School of EME community.

  • Track records of scholarly publications and/or developed medical imaging software
