At the University of Southampton, we aim to change the world for the better, bringing together realms of research, creativity, and knowledge to have a truly collaborative, immersive, and ground-breaking impact.  We care about the challenges that humanity is facing, and work to support others on a local and global scale.

In the Office of Development & Alumni Relations (ODAR), our job is to galvanise our community to solve these challenges and to make a difference. Would you like this to be your job too?

The role

As Alumni and Supporter Engagement Manager, you’ll work with our most high profile alumni and supporters and our international alumni community to transform the lives of our students and graduates and raise the profile of our University around the world.  Using a strategic approach, you’ll foster and manage mutually beneficial relationships with high profile individuals and members of our global alumni community, engaging them as ambassadors, advocates and volunteers to support a wide range of University priorities – from increasing student recruitment and championing our world class research, to enriching the student experience and enhancing graduate employability.

The post holder will be required to travel internationally - approximately 4 weeks per year.

This role is based at our lively Highfield campus, although most of the team work on a hybrid basis so your time can be split between working remotely from home and catching up with colleagues on campus.

About you

You’ll be a confident and experienced relationship manager, with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and maintain relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds.  You’ll be a strategic thinker, able to develop and implement effective engagement strategies in line with the University’s mission.  You’ll have strong project management skills and excellent attention to detail.   You’ll be a team player, who enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from across the University to deliver high quality work.

About Us

This is an exciting time to join the University.  We are planning our first University-wide fundraising and engagement campaign.  Together, we want to raise more money and to engage more alumni and friends with Southampton so that we can change the world.

Imagine fundraising for medical technologies that could cure cancer or dementia. Or engaging a volunteer who can help a student improve their career prospects. Or seeing the look on a student’s face when they learn they will be the first person in their family to attend University—because of your work.

This could be a career-defining and remarkable opportunity. Help us change the world. Join us.
