Young and research intensive, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is ranked among the world’s top universities.  

The Chinese Programme in the School of Humanities at NTU invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure-track)/Assoc/Full Professor with tenure in Chinese history. The area of specialization is open but preference will be given to candidates specializing in late imperial China (Ming and Qing dynasties). For the Assistant Professor position, candidates need to have completed their PhDs before the starting date of the appointment.  NTU is looking for candidates who have demonstrated great research skills and potential in their academic work.

For the Assoc/Full Professor position, candidates should possess a distinguished record of publications. The successful applicant is also expected to provide academic leadership in Chinese studies within the School of Humanities and engage actively in research, teaching, and service.

All candidates are expected to teach both undergraduate courses and graduate seminars. The teaching load is 2-2. NTU values teaching greatly and prefers candidates who have demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.

Candidates are also required to be able to teach in Chinese and communicate in English.

Emoluments

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
