About SGFIN

The Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) is a university-level research institute in the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and NUS.  SGFIN aspires to develop deep research capabilities in sustainable and green finance, provide thought leadership in the sustainability space, and shape sustainability outcomes across the financial sector and the economy at large.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role is suited for those wishing to develop expertise in designing and developing web interface for academic and industry applications.  The responsibilities of the role will include designing and developing websites that are visually appealing, easy to navigate, and deliver usability for the intended audience so that the Institute can disseminate its research to the public.

The successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:

  • Write clean, high-quality, high-performance, and maintainable code for websites
  • Develop and support web software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to insure projects are suitable for the institute’s objectives and compliance standards
  • Support deployments of new features
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Manage and coordinate project deliverables, ensuring their quality
  • Manage the collaborations with the Institute’s other researchers and stakeholders, including providing periodic progress updates and deliverables
  • Work closely with the rest of the SGFIN team to support SGFIN’s activities and objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with modern website development tools: Angular, React, and/or Vue
  • Developing skill sets to work with Wordpress development tool
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technology like AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Interest in sustainability is appreciated
  • At least a recognized Bachelor’s degree with an academic background in any of the subjects relating to computing, information systems, economics, finance, or related disciplines is preferred. Candidates who have a recognized Master’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant working experience will be considered for the Research Associate position.
  • Basic understanding of financial sector (banks and other financial institutions) and financial markets is preferred.

  • Strong time and project management skills, with ability to manage several projects concurrently and a proven track record of managing and steering projects towards smooth execution and on time delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective in coordinating stakeholders, fostering teamwork, and working with high performance project team.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, along with adequate written communication skills.
  • Adaptive to change with a positive work attitude.
  • Enthusiastic team player who is self-driven, committed, and willing to take initiative.
