Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Fellow

The Practice Office in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with the relevant skillset and experience to lead and support work in policy review, programme evaluations, and health systems and services research.

The individual will play a critical role in the development of Practice Office’s agenda to support health policy, services research and evaluation in Singapore, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts, policy makers, and programme implementers in the field. They will be expected to perform research administration and conduct research to inform policy.

The role will require an ambitious self-starter who can engage with incoming briefs and help shape and construct deliverables in a timely manner. As a research fellow, they will be provided opportunities to further develop their skills to ensure personal growth in their career. The role benefits from exposure to many areas of public health ranging from evaluations of patient reported outcomes and experiences to evaluating national strategic plans. This will engage the individual in building professional networks across multiple agencies in Singapore.

The successful candidate will join an active and supportive team that enjoys working together, problem solving as a team and working on theory-driven yet applied practical outputs that will influence population health outcomes.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree from an established University, preferably in public health, health sciences, or social sciences with intermediate to advanced understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on qualifications and work experience.

Applicants with following experiences and skills are preferred:

• Experience with literature reviews, systematic reviews and policy analysis
• Experience with conducting quantitative research, including design and collection of survey data, processing and analysis of large data sets, and other quantitative methods/data.
• And/or Experience with conducting qualitative research, including design and conducting of focus groups and interviews, analysis and interpretation of qualitative data, and other qualitative methods/data.
• Experience with study project management, including grant applications, ethics applications, study administration processes, and junior staff team management.
• Good team-player, independent, enjoys working across disciplines and sectors.
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-organised, and meticulous.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient in the use of statistical software, preferably R or STATA, for statistical analyses
• Adept at learning new software packages and online digital systems
