Job Description:

The School of Mathematics & Physics at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking immediate appointment of a Research Fellow for up to 18 months to undertake theoretical research in non-equilibrium quantum dynamics of mesoscopic quantum systems. The post will be funded by the EPSRC project QuamNESS to Professor M. Paternostro. 

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you:

  • Have or be about to obtain a PhD in theoretical physics.
  • Can demonstrate at least 3 years’ relevant research experience in theoretical physics, including at the postgraduate level.
  • Can evidence provable research experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Quantum Optics
    • Open system dynamics
    • Non-equilibrium quantum processes and thermodynamics.

This post is fixed term until 30 November 2024. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
