Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Anaesthesiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 520670) (to commence as soon as possible for up to two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.)   

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in healthcare-related disciplines, including but not limited to population health, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences or a related field. Knowledge in chronic pain, drug use, and healthy behaviors is preferred. They should have extensive experiences in quantitative analysis and statistical modelling, managing large population-based datasets, and conducting statistical modellings and regressions using R, SAS, STATA or other statistical tools. Experience in cohort studies/population-based studies and/or linear mixed regression, path analysis/structural equation modelling, survival analysis is preferred. Applicants should be able to work independently and in a team, and collaborate with external parties. They should also have strong communication and writing skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and preferably good organizational and interpersonal skills.

The appointee will work on several large population-based studies, including a global dataset with more than 10,000 participants, and a territory-wide Hong Kong dataset with more than 4,000 participants. These population-based studies aim to evaluate the risk factors of chronic pain, particularly how drug uses, pain treatment and healthy behaviors can affect prevalence of chronic pain worldwide. The appointee’s duties will also include: (1) quantitative analysis and statistical modelling; (2) data management; (3) supervision of junior research staffs; and (4) preparation of research materials for presentations, proposal and reports; and (5) other duties as assigned by supervisors.
