About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented and passionate individual to contribute to cutting-edge research in non and semiparametric curve estimation. As the Research Fellow in Statistics, you will work alongside esteemed researchers, including Prof Aurore Delaigle, and collaborate with international partners, ensuring a rich and stimulating research environment. This role offers the chance to delve into high-level theoretical and methodological research, analyse diverse datasets, and publish in renowned statistical journals, contributing significantly to the field's advancement. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to jointly supervise postgraduate students and may explore teaching opportunities to further develop your skills. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute significantly to the research effort by developing expertise, leading methodology development, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assist in the preparation of research proposals, undertake administrative functions, and collaborate effectively with project partners.
  • Contribute to mentoring, and supervising students, as well as providing effective supervision to junior research staff.
  • Actively participate in School activities, meetings, and seminars, promoting the research culture and upholding University values.

Who We Are Looking For

You are a collaborative and constructive individual who excels at working with colleagues to achieve the goals of the School, and you have experience in effectively contributing to research teams. Additionally, you possess excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling you to represent the School and the discipline confidently with internal and external groups.

You will also have:

  • Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in methodological or mathematical statistics.
  • Demonstrated mathematical and theoretical skills at a high level.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for research, with a solid publication record in relevant areas.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming or software development.
