Kingston University is a thriving, modern institution.  Now is a very exciting time in its evolution as it seeks to implement its Town House strategy. Named after the internationally acclaimed, award-winning Town House building, the strategy will prepare students for the future world of work, increase the University's research and knowledge exchange, enhance its collaboration with local communities, business and industry, strengthen its impact on policy and support the goal of building a more sustainable society and economy. 

It is built around four themes:

• Partnering with industry to develop students' skills, and engaging government and organisations with the University's expertise to further debate and influence policy.

In order to deliver the correct outcomes, Kingston University is making significant investment and has also undertaken structural change in terms of its STEM provision.  There are therefore a range of openings available in the new Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment.  The Department of Electrical, Electronic and Robotic Engineering is new.  In response to renewed requirements for skills and research in these areas, Kingston University is investing heavily in creating this entity with the ambition that it will make a significant contribution to the agenda and as such, they wish to attract an exceptional inaugural Head of Department. 

Candidates should have an academic profile that is relevant to the disciplines in question, and this must be allied with a keen understanding of what the component parts of a world class Department in these disciplines are.  The delivery of growth will be required year on year so applicants should have the vision and foresight to know what this means and how to achieve it.  Clearly accreditation is part of this story, so experience in that vein is also required.  The post sits within the School of Engineering and is based at the Roehampton Vale Campus so there are plentiful opportunities for inter-disciplinary work, and it is expected that the appointee will embrace this.
