Description

The Percipalle Laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, wishes to appoint a Research Assistant.  The Percipalle lab studies the mechanisms underlying chromatin and gene expression regulation during cellular differentiation and organ development. The lab has recently discovered that compartment level genome organization (Mahmood et al 2021, Nature Communications) and gene expression regulation during differentiation (see Xie et al 2018, PLOS Genetics; Gjorgjieva, Xie et al 2020, Adv Science; Al Sayegh et al 2020, Mol Biol Cell; Mahmood et al 2021, Nature Communications) require a nuclear actin pool. We are now interested in gaining further insights into actin dependent chromatin and epigenetic changes that accompany transcriptional reprogramming during neurogenesis using 3D model systems. Therefore, the new research assistant will have a strong background in stem cell biology and organoids as well as a track record using imaging and advanced genomics.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior postdocs in the lab and will be responsible to lead a project to completion, to communicate scientific ideas and mentor other lab members, including undergraduate students. Applicants must have a MSc in Biological Sciences or related areas. Proficiency in cell biology techniques including 3D cell culture and organoids as well as advanced imaging is needed as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

NYUAD offers a stimulating research environment, a distinguished community of outstanding researchers and is enhanced by state-of-the-art research facilities that are institutionally supported. We are dedicated to being inclusive and welcome all backgrounds and life experiences. The terms of employment include highly competitive salary, housing allowance, and other benefits.

This position is available from April 1, 2023, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter describing both managerial and scientific experience specifically relevant to the work of our laboratory, curriculum vitae including a complete list of publications, a one-page summary of research accomplishments and interests, transcript of degree, and contact information for 3 academic referees all in PDF format. All items must be submitted using the interfolio platform through the link on our website. If you have any questions, please email Dr Piergiorgio Percipalle at  pp69@nyu.edu
