Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 520594), to commence in September 2023, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Microbial Bioinformatics or a related discipline, with proven track record and/or successful work experience in antimicrobial resistance bacterial genomics and metagenomics involving Illumina and Oxford Nanopore technologies. Those with lead authorship publications and/or successful grant application records as principal applicant in antimicrobial resistance genomics research would have advantages. The appointee will work under the supervision of Dr. P.L. Ho to mentor junior research members, prepare grants proposals and compete for funding. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of the basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
