Research Assistant, Marine Biology and Ecology Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute

Job Description

The Research Assistant will participate in carbon research, with a specific focus on seagrass ecosystems. The research assistant will lead and execute aquarium experiments, laboratory analysis and field sampling. Specific tasks include planning and conducting experiments, running laboratory analyses, collection and analysis of data, and performing basic administrative duties.

This position reports to the Principle Investigator at Tropical Marine Science Institute and is based at St John's Island National Marine Laboratory on offshore St John's Island, Singapore. This position is for 1 year; after first year, renewal is subjected to performance review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science, Environmental Science, or related field 
• Proficient with basic Microsoft Suite
• Prior experience with seawater aquarium facilities and/or field work is highly preferred
• Self-motivated, driven, and a keen interest in research
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English
