The University of Greenwich seeks to appoint an enthusiastic Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Film and TV in the Film and TV portfolio of the School of Stage and Screen. The recent establishment of the School has brought together the disciplines of Drama, Theatre and Performance, Music and Sound, Film Studies and Film and TV Production, across Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, to respond to the increasing demand for creative thinkers, cross-disciplinary collaboration, global stories and new skills for creating and performing with emerging technologies. We are looking for someone to join this diverse and multi-disciplinary team to help us modernise our curriculum and prepare our students for the future in the ever-growing and rapidly changing creative industries.
The successful candidate will be a Film and TV practitioner, with experience as an academic, the energy and passion for the student experience and ability to work well across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will be able to evidence a thorough understanding of current filmmaking and television processes and their academic underpinning. Experience as a Producer or Line Producer in either Film or TV production, of multicamera studio production and/or new technologies in Film and TV production, such as those related to virtual production, extended reality and immersive technologies, are welcomed.
The successful candidate will bring fresh ideas and contributions to the development of existing and/or novel taught programmes and if appointed at Senior Lecturer level, may be expected to take up Programme Leadership at the time of appointment or to lead the development and eventual delivery of new undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes.
The successful candidate should have an Undergraduate and Post-graduate degree in one of the following: Film and TV, a PhD in Film/TV or related field (Completed or near completion) or related experience, appropriate professional qualification, member of Film and TV industry or HEA Fellowship. Experience in leadership is essential for appointment at Senior Lecturer level.
We have ambitions to develop our already successful School into a world leading centre for innovation in teaching, research, knowledge exchange and student enterprise supported by our brand new Shared Hub for Immersive and Future Technologies (SHIFT) and the Faculty’s newly established Institute for Inclusive Communities and Environments with six new research centres associated with core disciplines of creative arts, design, humanities, and social sciences and a Practice Hub for skills development and learning for practice as research.
