The Faculty of Art Design and Humanities reveals new ways of seeing, thinking and making. Art, industry, humanities and design converge to tackle real world issues and speculate and propose new futures. The faculty delivers an advanced enquiry-led education, designed to prepare and challenge students to take a personal and critical position in the globalised architectural world. Our community is seen as a place where academics, practitioners and students are co-designing new ways of thinking and meaningfully challenging conventions to redefine the future of practice.

Role

The Architecture Programme at De Montfort University Dubai is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Lecture/Senior lecturer with an aspiration and passion in integrating architectural design with climate literacy, ethics and humanities. We are looking for someone who wishes to teach the next generation of architects to challenge their future industry and help make the changes in construction needed to lead in tackling the climate emergency and social change. 

In this role, we are looking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Architecture will work closely with the Subject and Programme Lead and the leads of our four architectural threads: Architectural Space & Context (ASC), Architectural Humanities & Ecologies (AHE), Architectural Technology & Environments (ATE) and Architectural Practice & Ethics (APE), to develop and implement a new, integrated curriculum, that responds to the need for climate literate architects. We want someone who has a genuine desire to support students to successfully transition into Higher Education and evolve a curriculum that will scaffold their learning during their first year of studies. You will be required to contribute to the teaching of research methods to our students.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Architecture you will have proven academic and industry experience, with extensive design studio involvement, from either practice, research or education. You must have a working understanding of RIBA & ARB accreditation and a working knowledge of the current HE education context in the UK. You must be a people centric person with the desire to be on campus co-creating and delivering curriculum with both the staff and student body. Our student population is diverse and so are interested in making appointments that reflect our student body.
