Job Description:

The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS), Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow.   

The principal aim of the post is to work in an established team to provide statistical analysis, project management of data linkages, contribute to the writing of publications and of grant applications relating to analysis of data from the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry focusing on the relationships between cancer and heart disease.  

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • A primary degree in a health-related subject or mathematics/statistics, or cognate discipline in which quantitative skills are evident
  • Have a relevant PhD in epidemiology, public health, applied statistics or related subjects that include a substantive quantitative data analysis component
  • At least 3 years’ recent research experience and skills relevant to this project e.g. database management, statistical analysis, working with large epidemiological datasets
  • Experience of using statistical packages such as STATA or R.

This is a fixed term post which is available for up to 5 months.  Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
