The University of Bradford is an ambitious world-leading Technology University with the School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences in the QS World 200 rankings for Pharmacy & Pharmacology. The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences (SPMS) benefits from a supportive and enabling culture.

We recognise that applicants from under-represented groups may not apply for jobs unless they are confident they meet all the criteria. You are welcome to contact us to discuss the role further and are encouraged to think of your strengths, skills and experiences in the broadest sense when considering your suitability. We welcome applications from people on different professional pathways and recognise that you may not have worked in academia previously.

The SPMS is planning to introduce BSc Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science in September 2023. As an Assistant Professor in Cosmetic Technology, you will mainly lead the preparations required before the introduction of the programme and continue to contribute to this and other programmes including the MPharm and MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Medicine Control programmes. Your research in cosmetic technology, pharmaceutics and regulatory affairs should bring in expertise in the development of delivery systems and related regulatory aspects for pharmaceuticals and/or cosmetics. You will be an enthusiastic teacher, with an academic background appropriate to research-informed pharmaceutical and cosmetic science education and the ability and passion to teach from foundation to Masters level. Areas of teaching will include; pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulation development, processing and packaging, pharmaceutical analysis, regulatory requirements and related subjects. You will work with colleagues to ensure excellent delivery of learning, teaching, assessment, and student experience.

Your research interests will align with one of the Faculty of Life Sciences Research Themes: the interface between chemistry biology and materials; computation and big data science, Life course (from cells to systems), and Health, Society, People and Place. You will also have an opportunity to be housed in the Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering Science.

The post holder will join a truly innovative School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, with a fully integrated and award-winning Pharmacy degree programme delivered using Team-based Learning which attracts students from a widening participation background. Therefore, you will have a commitment to our widening participation agenda to enable all students to achieve their potential.
