Introduction

Winchester School of Art is proud to be one of the UK’s leading art Schools and part of the world-renowned University of Southampton, a founder member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. Our research-intensive environment and international student body provide a rich ground for interdisciplinary thinking and making at the nexus of art, science, technology, and culture.

Department of Fashion & Textiles

The Department of Fashion & Textiles is the school’s largest department, offering design, leadership & strategy, and marketing education, at undergraduate, taught-postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The department supports one of the largest international student communities in Europe studying fashion leadership, management, and strategy programmes, whilst sustaining a long-held reputation for the nurturing of high-level design practice and craft-based skills.

About the role

This role focuses on maintaining our growing national and international reputation in Fashion Marketing and Management, including Digital marketing, social media marketing, new technologies, as well as luxury brand management.  The role will focus on high quality education and research delivery that complement the school and university’s broader research and education strategy.

About You

You will have experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well being able to develop key research activities in your discipline.   With a focus on digital strategy, marketing, management and luxury, you will be part of a dynamic department focusing on sustainability, research practice, research methodologies, and overall fashion marketing and management across different sectors, including the luxury sector.  You’ll become a part of a dynamic group of academics that are leading the way in fashion leadership and marketing and are embracing the digital arena from both an education delivery and research perspective. Relevant academic and industry experience is welcomed. You will demonstrate a defined research portfolio pertinent to the field, including burgeoning areas of interest.

What we can offer you

Working at the University of Southampton gives you access to a wide range of benefits in addition to our competitive rates of pay. Our core benefits include pension scheme membership; a generous annual leave allowance (supplemented by University closure days and public holidays) and excellent family leave arrangements (including maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave).

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity.  We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment.

Committed to supporting our teaching and research community we are open to flexible working.  With an understanding that there is a need to be on campus for teaching duties we are open to a hybrid approach.
