The Faculty of Arts http://www.ln.edu.hk/arts/ offers the best of liberal arts education to students who join us to pursue one of our distinctive BA (Hons) degrees. The Faculty encompasses seven Arts Departments, two language centres and several research centres. To foster innovative thinking and creativity, the Faculty has offered a bachelor of Arts degree programme in Animation and Digital Arts programme since 2019.

Faculty of Arts is inviting applications for a research track position at the rank of associate professor. The expertise of the applicants should include two of the following: immersive media (VR/AR), media technologies, computational arts, and animation studies.

The appointee is expected to:

  1. teach relevant courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervising student final projects;
  2. develop innovative and rigorous research and generate research outputs with high impact; and
  3. contribute to service and development of the programme of animation and digital arts.

General Requirements

Applicants for the position should have:

  1. A PhD degree in interactive and emerging media, visual arts or a relevant discipline;
  2. An excellent publication record in top-tier journals and/or university presses;
  3. A good track record in successful competitive grant applications; and
  4. At least five years of experience in higher education.

Candidates are required to provide information about their research records and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals of good international standing and/or university presses.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, research leave, conference leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. The appointee is entitled to apply for both internal and external grants in support of his/her teaching, research and conference activities.

Appointments will normally be made on an initial contract of two years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointments with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
