Description
The School of Communication seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for future, part-time lecturer appointments. Part-time lecturers teach one to five courses at the undergraduate level, through different modalities, including face-to-face and online.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct all class sessions according to schedule.
- Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all Student Learning Objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
- Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration, and engage students actively in their studies while encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills.
- Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience.
- Assign and provide timely feedback for in- and out-of-class work, monitor students' progress and maintain accurate record of students' performance.
- Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements.
- Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy.
- Ensure timely submission of all reports to appropriate office(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
Part-time lecturer positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications
- Master’s degree in communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in communication or closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours.
- Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Previous teaching experience in an online environment.
- Prior relevant experience as a communication professional.

Compensation
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – 12 month Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer A (Range 2 ) - $5,168 – 6,946
Lecturer B (Range 3) - $6,190 – 13,797
Lecturer C (Range 4) - $7,102 – 15,145
Lecturer D (Range 5) - $8,964 – 15,864
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
