About the People and Culture Team

People and Culture provide strategic leadership and operational advice to the University, focusing on building a positive work environment that reflects our values. Through the delivery of high-quality human resource policies, procedures, and systems, we provide advice and support to staff and managers on pay, leave, benefits, professional development, equity, diversity, recruitment and health and safety. 

About the Role 

Due to recent internal movements within our People and Culture division, we have an exciting opening as the People and Culture Officer within our Employment Services team.

This role is responsible for a broad range of responsive and effective People and Culture transactional services for recruitment and employment related matters and works in close collaboration with the Recruitment, Payroll and Benefits Services and Business Partnering Teams.

Some of the key position responsibilities of the position are:

  • Providing central processing of employment related matters through the Flinders University Human Capital Management system (Workday), including but not limited to:
    • contract re-engagements.
    • Casual Engagements
    • employment variations.
    • allowances including higher duties, topic coordination and market/retention allowances; and
    • non-standard leave requests.
  • Maintaining accurate information in Workday to ensure employees details are correct and current.
  • Providing timely, accurate and consistent processing and expertise on the Enterprise Agreement and related policies as they apply to the above processes.
  • Providing a responsive, customer focused service and performance driven culture and proactively contribute to improvements in P&C transactions and processes.

About You 

As the successful candidate, you are a driven professional with excellent organisational skills, can prioritise efficiently and can work an agile way. You have demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and can work well independently as well as part of a close-knit team. You are passionate about fostering a positive culture in the workplace and demonstrate Flinders University Ethos and Values. Previous experience in using the Workday platform is desirable.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Experience working in a transactional/operational role, preferably HR and a genuine interest in working in the HE Sector.
  • Exposure to or a demonstrated understanding of administrative processes.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills with good attention to detail and a strong commitment to client service.
  • A capacity to interpret the prevailing Enterprise Agreement (and associated policies/procedures) and to exercise judgement in consultation with P&C colleagues where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in the delivery of P&C services.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the requirements of confidentiality within a professional work team.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
