This is an opportunity to advance your university teaching career on our newly established Chemical Engineering degrees at Southampton, which have recently benefited from a multimillion-pound investment. You will join a team that is focused on developing sustainable and innovative approaches to laboratory teaching across Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, contributing to wider teaching activities in the School.
Do you have a background in Chemical Engineering and a strong desire to teach at a university level, with a passion for practical teaching? Are you looking to take the next step in your career, with support to advance on an educational pathway?
The University of Southampton is in the top 1% of universities worldwide – a reflection of our exceptional reputation for research and student experience. Within our School, we have a strong focus on providing the best possible education to our students, helping them to broaden their horizons and have successful futures.
At the core of this is our Undergraduate Laboratory teaching. We are seeking someone to develop and deliver world-class practical training in Chemical Engineering. Working collaboratively with a team of other teaching fellows and technicians, you will be integral to ensuring an outstanding student experience in a core aspect of our degree programmes. Integral to this are our newly established and fully equipped teaching laboratories, where you will be able to create opportunities for student to experience all aspects of chemical engineering.
To succeed in this role you should be able to demonstrate growth in your teaching experience at an undergraduate level. With a desire to continually update your knowledge and understanding in Chemical engineering and its teaching, you will be able to translate advances in scholarship to deliver a laboratory course to allow our future graduates to succeed in any field. With a strong background in Chemical Engineering, you will be eligible for membership of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, and a willingness to actively engage with them to provide the practical and safety training expected of future professional Chemical Engineers.
Central to our school ethos is providing all our staff and students with a diverse and inclusive working environment where they can flourish without barriers and we are proud of our Athena SWAN Silver Award (since 2015) that recognises our commitment to improving equality for women. We welcome female applicants and candidates from under-represented minority ethnic backgrounds. We will help you find a good work/life balance with flexible working hours. We offer an exceptional benefits package with onsite childcare facilities, a contributory pension scheme, a generous holiday allowance, subsidised health and fitness facilities and a cycle-to-work scheme.
