Job Description:
The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow in the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine.
The principal aim of the post is to: 1) undertake a NICHS funded project assessing the impact of fewer childhood respiratory infections (as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic) on development of childhood asthma; and 2) support a broad range of research projects within the UK Severe Asthma Registry.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
- Obtained or are about to obtain a relevant PhD in epidemiology, applied mathematics/statistics or related discipline
- At least 3 years’ recent research experience and skills relevant to this project e.g. database management, statistical analysis, working with large epidemiological datasets
- Experience of using statistical packages such as STATA
- Contribution to authorship of articles in international scientific peer reviewed journals, commensurate with stage of career.

This is a full time, fixed term position available for 24 months, or until 30/06/2025, whichever is sooner. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
