The University invites applications from candidates specializing in the general areas of sustainability and the environment. Candidates are expected to have top tier scholarship on sustainability and the environment, broadly defined and have experience leading interdisciplinary studies. Specific research areas may include climate studies, environmental studies, biology and ecology, etc. Preference will be given to candidates who indicate how to build upon existing strengths of the University in its Science Unit and other areas including data science, resource management, regulatory policy, decision science, etc. Successful candidate will also be concurrently appointed as Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The appointee will join the School of Interdisciplinary Studies ( and will be expected to provide academic leadership in both research and teaching. For appointment at the rank of Chair Professor, candidates should have a distinguished track record of high impact research publications and competitive research grants, and experience in academic administration.


Internationally competitive start-up packages are available for the successful candidate. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered.
