Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Ref.: 520424), to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis or two- to three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. 

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes. The University of Hong Kong has a highly ranked engineering school and active electrical and electronic engineering programmes. The Department consists of more than 50 full-time faculty members and has excellent computing resources, well-equipped teaching and research facilities and support. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, plus an MPhil or a BSc in Computer Science, with a strong commitment to research and teaching. A solid track record in AI for Social Good research is essential, preferably in the following areas: AI and big data-driven air pollution estimation and forecasting, AI and big data-driven neural degeneration studies. Candidates must have solid foundations in neural network modelling covering temporal-spatial dimensions, including CNN-LSTM, GNN temporal-spatial modelling, Bayesian estimation, causal inference etc. Preference is given to those with strong track records in conducting and managing grand challenge AI for Social Good interdisciplinary research projects, strong scientific publication records, and awardees in basic research grants.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
