Faculty Positions in Media and Communication Studies

Part-time Faculty Member in Media and Communication Studies (Practical)

The program of Media and Communication Studies (MCOM) in the Department of Communication at UIC invites applications from student-centered scholar-practitioners broadly trained in journalism and digital media production. We welcome candidates with relevant practical experience and research interests in journalism writing, convergent journalism, and layout design.

Job Requirement

All applicants should hold at least an MA in media-related fields with a commensurable industry profile. Teaching responsibilities may include courses related to convergent journalism, copyediting, multimedia production, digital post-production, photography, and others of the applicant’s own interests. Preference will be given to candidates who also have teaching experience. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with successful candidate’s experience and accomplishments.

Part-time Faculty Member in Media and Communication Studies (Theoretical)

The program of Media and Communication Studies (MCOM) in the Department of Communication at UIC invites applications from student-centered scholars broadly trained in media and communication theory.

Job Requirement 

All applicants should hold an MA in media-related fields. Candidates with a PhD would be preferred. Teaching responsibilities may include courses related to international communication and media theory. Preference will be given to candidates who also have teaching experience.

Appointment Terms

Appointment to these positions will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of one semester or one year.
