The University of Southampton is committed to excellence in all we do, applying our insights and inventiveness to solve the most complex societal and environmental challenges. As a world-leading, research-intensive university, with a strong and high-quality educational offering, we are renowned for our innovation and enterprise and are within the top 1% of universities worldwide.

We are looking for an experienced Events Manager to lead and develop the employer events programme at the University of Southampton offered by the newly created Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise division. This role will take responsibility for the design and implementation of employer events, including large scale Careers Fairs, and managing the Events Team to deliver to a high standard.

You will seek and promote opportunities to improve student and recent graduate engagement with employers and external organisations to enable them to gain career insights and secure graduate success. You will develop new types of events or new ways of delivering existing events to offer a variety of engagement opportunities to employers (including SMEs, startups, Graduate Recruiters, charities and third sector organisations, social enterprises) and students. You will generate excitement around the events programme, utilising student and employer feedback and data to inform developments as much as possible. Working closely with other colleagues in Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise, particularly the Employer Engagement Team and the Student Enterprise Team, you will also undertake extensive partnership working with stakeholders at the University and other external stakeholders, suppliers and partners.

About You

You will have substantial experience of delivering large-scale event management in an educational setting, such as careers fairs, where customer service is essential. You will be a confident, credible, and motivated person with the ability to communicate and inspire others and be an excellent team manager.

You will be highly organised, deliver to deadlines, and manage multiple activities. You will use data to inform approaches and actively seek feedback to enhance practice.

What we can offer you

As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days, we will support your long-term future too, with access to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts.

We believe equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to making the University of Southampton a welcoming, vibrant, and successful organisation. Having a diverse workforce, inclusive of people of all ages and beliefs, from different racial, educational, and social backgrounds opens up a wealth of possibilities, makes us more creative and accelerates our impact on society. We welcome applicants that value the diversity of our community and are willing to play their part in supporting the mission of inclusivity.
