Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.
We are currently seeking to appoint a postdoc or Research Assistant (RA) in Cancer Stem Cell Research.
The main focus of the Cancer and Stem Cell Laboratory is to study how normal stem cells are transformed into cancer stem cells and to develop effective new therapies that specifically target and destroy cancer stem cells. These cells, which are often resistant to chemotherapy, are now believed to be the engine driving the growth of cancer and the root cause of treatment resistance and relapse. The research role you will be working in focuses on cancer stem cell research using bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, proteomics and epigenomics, specifically working on animal models, preclinical drug testing, molecular/cell biology, and organizing laboratory inventories and orders (for the RA role).
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- contribute to high quality publications
- achieve an outstanding level of competence in all aspects of experimental work
- assist with planning and coordination of research efforts
- manage laboratory orders and inventories (for the RA role)
- present research data at conferences, seminars and lab meetings
- trains, supervises and guides junior employees & students on a day-to-day basis
- comply with regulatory guidelines (including OGTR and ethics) and Institute policies
- apply for human and animal ethics approvals/modifications for research projects
- participation in weekend and public holiday work where it is required
- travel between the university facilities if needed.
- a Ph.D. for Postdoctoral Researcher
- an Honours or equivalent in a relevant scientific or medical field for Research Assistant
- prior experience in animal disease models and single-cell omics is highly desired
- demonstrated ability to conduct experiments independently or with minimal supervision
- demonstrated ability to generate reproducible, high quality research results
- demonstrated ability to develop new techniques and use the latest technology in research projects
- demonstrated commitment to conducting experiments involving animals & GMO's under strict ethical and regulatory guidelines.
