ScaDS.AI (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) Dresden/Leipzig is a center for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data with locations in Dresden and Leipzig. It is one of five new AI centers in Germany funded under the federal government’s AI strategy and is established as a permanent research facility with currently more than 60 PIs. To promote research excellence in the field of AI and data science, ScaDS.AI supports early career researchers in this field that complement and extend our current research areas. At the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences, Department ScaDS.AI, the Junior Research Group „Situating AI-based Mentoring“ offers a position as

starting as soon as possible with a duration of 12 to 36 months. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Tasks: The applicants should dispose of research work on interactive and/or AI-based systems. They investigate frameworks, tools and models including analyses of machine learning algorithms. As part of an interdisciplinary research group, they design and implement AI systems to solve real-world problems in educational contexts, train, optimize and maintain AI models, improve existing AI models and applications and find solutions to build powerful end-user tools.

Requirements: Researchers (university degree in a field suitable for the activity) with a proven research track record in data science and AI. Applicants require strong background in algorithms, machine learning, neural networks, data structures, and programming languages such as Python, Java, CSS. Proficiency in AI technology such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) is essential. Knowledge of ChatGPT and ActivityPub is desired. Experience developing and deploying AI solutions is preferred, as is understanding of applicability in the context of real-world applications and working in interdisciplinary teams.
