Applications are invited for a Temporary 24 months post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within School of Medicine (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) .

This is a senior postdoctoral researcher post within a data science research group, focused on psychosis prediction and prevention. Our overall goal is to identify groups at risk of severe mental illness early in life so that we can provide early intervention and ultimately prevention.

The researcher will use large datasets, including national healthcare register data from Finland and the UK, to understand developmental trajectories of mental ill health from childhood to adulthood. They will use causal inference methods to explore potentially causal factors related to the development of severe mental illness.

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

The post will include a 1-2 month research visit in Helsinki, Finland at the national Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) at the beginning of the project, with regular shorter visits thereafter. The post also involves working with Finnish healthcare registry data. Fluency in Finnish is not a requirement, but it will be necessary to be comfortable with using foreign language register data.

Post Doc Level 2 Fixed Salary: 49,790 per annum.
