Edinburgh Napier Business School is proud to be one of the largest modern Business Schools in Scotland, at the leading edge of innovation, with a strong academic reputation in undergraduate, postgraduate, executive education, and business research.
The school is focused on the delivery of a portfolio of programmes which reflect the needs of students and places greater emphasis on practical experiences and application of learning. We develop employable (and self-employable) graduates who will drive economic growth both at home and abroad.
We also have strong and developing links with business through research-led teaching, practice-based classroom activities, student placements, business support, research and consultancy. Our academic staff maintain close links with industry, through professional body memberships, Knowledge Transfer Programmes, and both Work Based Learning and Live Project module supervision.
As such, we are now recruiting a Lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality and/or Event Management on our Learning and Teaching/Research/Enterprise or Professional pathways, to support and develop the delivery of these subject areas within the Tourism and Languages Subject Group.
The post of Lecturer in Tourism, Hospitality and/or Event Management will give you the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of our wider Tourism Management portfolio whilst supporting our ambitions to develop this particular area of specialism within the undergraduate and postgraduate MSc curricula.
This will see you joining the Tourism and Languages Subject Group in the School (under the leadership of Professor Lynn Minnaert), an ambitious, growing team consisting of academics who make significant contributions across all strands of endeavour. Joining the team will put you in an ideal position to use your knowledge and experience to contribute to the area of Tourism, Hospitality and/or Event Management. If you have related industry experience, then we would be particularly interested in speaking with you.
Your responsibilities will include developing, designing and delivering teaching and student-centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice within your assigned areas of responsibility, using your experience to contribute to the support of our expanding MSc portfolio.
Further to this, you will be in an excellent position to influence the direction of our diverse and vibrant curriculum going forward and become involved in both module and programme leadership. It is expected that you will contribute to our international deliveries in, for example Hong Kong and Singapore, with the opportunity to contribute to our growing Global Online Portfolio.
Laterally, individual and collaborative research projects will allow you to contribute to the research profile within your School, leading to the production of high-quality research outputs and outcomes. An interest in and some evidence of research outputs in the areas of sustainability, technology, airline operations and/or data analytics would be of particular interest to the Subject Group but not essential for the role.
Ultimately, your valuable input will contribute to the University's objective of growing our academic reputation for research-informed student learning based on industry awareness.
