Job Summary:

The School Psychology program at CU Denver is seeking affiliate faculty (Lecturers) for the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024. This position will be attuned to CU Denver Strategic Plan 2030 by embracing and advancing equity through research, creative work, and teaching to encourage a just, safe, and inclusive campus; dedicated to improving systems to support minoritized people and historically marginalized identities in order to reduce bias and create and sustain equity; and redefining success through a lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion to unlock the potential for everyone to succeed.

The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching courses related to sensitive topics in the areas of identity, race, power, privilege, ability, gender, sexuality, etc. and must possess the emotional intelligence to engage our student community in their learning. They will also be responsible for confronting such issues while fostering a safe environment for those of marginalized communities while confronting these sensitive issues. They will also need to possess the ability to teach doctoral students in our APA-accredited school psychology program.

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) is a leading school of education, providing national expertise on educational issues and socially-just solutions for urban and diverse communities. The SEHD has taken a leadership role in preparing professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related settings. The SEHD emphasizes working with multiple types of collaborative partnerships including PK-12 schools, local communities, businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universities and colleges. The SEHD was ranked 85th nationally in 2021-22 by US News and World Report.

The School Psychology Program (SPSY) focuses on advancing social justice across educational and mental health contexts. We also have an optional bilingual school psychology concentration area. We offer courses during the day, evening and some online.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

     

    PhD, EdD, PsyD Degree Programs
      PhD, EdD, PsyD in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Education, Human Development, Family Relations, or closely related disciple field area.

    If a doctorate degree is in an unrelated field, the candidate must demonstrate at least 18 graduate level credit hours in related discipline and/or 5 years' experience in the field related to the course documented on the CV. Candidates need to supply some evidence (e.g., subject matter expertise or leadership expertise) of experience.

     

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:
      Teaching experience (at the undergraduate or graduate levels). Experience working with culturally minoritized children's families in schools or clinical settings. Doctorate in School Psychology or related field. Commitment to social justice and conceptualizing the school psychologist as an advocate.

    The salary for this position has been established at $4,750, for a fully-enrolled 3-credit course.

    The salary for this position is based upon course enrollment. Payment amount per enrolled student varies according to the established rate of tuition for the specific class or program.

    The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    This part-time appointment is not eligible for group health, life insurance, and retirement benefits.

    As of January 1, 2021, Lecturer positions will accrue sick leave at a rate of 0.034 hours per hour worked with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

    This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

    This will be a semester-by-semester appointment, with the possibility of renewal. If your appointment in this position continues, you will be notified in writing each term.

    This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
