The University of Colorado Resident Physical Therapy Program is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Hybrid Physical Therapy Faculty for a Hybrid program on the campus of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). This successful candidate will work with the Hybrid Program Director to implement the Hybrid Physical Therapy program. The primary academic appointment will be at UCCS with a joint appointment with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. While the position is centered on hybrid instruction, this is an on-campus position. This position reports to the Chair of the UCCS Department of Health Sciences with additional oversight by the Associate Dean of Physical Therapy Education and the Senior Associate Dean of Education, School of Medicine. The appointment will be at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is a full-time 12-month faculty appointment with 40% teaching, 40% scholarship, 20% service responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the UCCS Health Science Department in the Helen and Arthur E Johnson Beth-el College of Nursing and Health Science, as well as accreditation standards as set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Job Duties:

The duties in this faculty position will include teaching, research and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Program Director.

Ensuring the assessment of student learning outcomes in classroom and/or clinical laboratory settings. Ensures the scope, depth, and breadth of course content, and maintenance of current records of student participation and grades, comply with program and CAPTE standards. Providing student advisement. Providing training and mentoring to teaching assistants and junior lecturers. Reviewing methods and teaching materials and making recommendations for improvement. Providing education at professional conferences, facilitating training for clinical partners and affiliates, and networking with others in the field. Traveling to other universities or academic settings to participate in learning opportunities and gain experience. Contributing to the creation of an environment that promotes growth, equality, and freedom of speech. Engage in an active program of research/scholarship Engage in various service activities with the College, UCCS and profession of PT Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress Other duties as determined by the Dean and Department Chair
Non-teaching time will be dedicated to scholarly activities and dissemination as well as program, department and university service. Service duties include, but are not limited to, the Recruitment and Admissions Committee, Student Promotions Committee, Clinical Lab Management and other areas as assigned.

Attendance at meetings and educational events of the program, department and college is expected. DPT faculty provide support for CAPTE self-study and annual accreditation activities, student ceremonies, and faculty search committees. Faculty may assist with student recruitment, interviews, and academic counseling sessions. This position requires flexibility for days of the week and times of day due to involvement in multiple courses and PT Program needs.

Work Location: On-site

Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Assistant Professor: $100,000 - $112,000 annually

Associate Professor: $112,000 - $135,000 annually

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:
    A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a lower-level physical therapy degree with a terminal degree (such as PhD, DSc, DHS, EdD, or equivalent) in a related field. Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the state of Colorado.

Associate Professor:
    A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a lower-level physical therapy degree with a terminal degree (such as PhD, DSc, DHS, EdD, or equivalent) in a related field. Eligibility for physical therapy licensure in the state of Colorado. 1-2 years experience with facilitating clinical laboratory activities within an academic setting 1-2 years experience assessing student performance associated with traditional clinical laboratory activities and simulation learning experiences Minimum 5 years clinical experience in physical therapy Evidence of peer reviewed scholarship or presentations suitable to the rank of Associate Professor Minimum 5 years teaching experience in a Doctoral Physical therapy program with demonstration of teaching responsibilities in foundational and patient management courses at multiple stages/levels of the curriculum related courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:
    Prior university level classroom/laboratory teaching experience Residency/fellowship program graduate and or completion of a research-based post-doctoral fellowship Specialty certification (e.g. ABPTS, FAAOMPT) in area of content expertise Experience with Hybrid teaching/virtual instruction and use of Learning management systems (Canvas) 3 or more years of clinical PT experience A record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations

Associate Professor:
    American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties Certifications A record of professional development (continuing education) Residency/fellowship program graduate and or completion of a research-based post-doctoral fellowship Experience supporting students through doctoral committee service Positions of increased academic responsibility, leadership and management accomplishments Demonstrated ability to work with varied internal and external constituencies.

Physical Requirements:

The candidate must possess sufficient motor function to effectively perform job duties. This includes, but is not limited to, the performance, description or direction of others to safely lift, transfer, guard, and position patients. In addition, many physical therapy interventions require advanced hands-on skills to safely perform patient care including manual therapy and treatments that use accessory devices.
