About Cambridge Muslim College

Cambridge Muslim College was established in 2009 to develop and disseminate Muslim thought leadership through world-class education, training and research based on dialogue between the Islamic tradition and the circumstances of the modern world. We currently offer a full-time BA in Islamic Studies validated by the Open University, a Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies and Leadership and an online Diploma in Islamic Psychology.

Cambridge Muslim College is at an exciting stage in its development, with the launch of an ambitious five-year strategy that includes growing our academic programmes, expanding our campus and outreach activities and establishing a research arm.

About the role

The Chief Executive will provide overall strategic vision, leadership, direction and management to the College and its staff. Reporting to the Board of Trustees on the operations, academic and financial status of the College, the Chief Executive will lead on the formulation, delivery and evaluation of an organisational vision and strategy, with the support of a dynamic staff. You will ensure strategies and business plans are delivered on time and within budget as agreed by the Board and maintain open and effective communications with the Trustees at all times.

Fostering and embedding a strong people-centred culture, the Chief Executive will provide effective leadership for and support the performance and development of the senior leadership team and staff across the College. The Chief Executive will also act as a lead fundraiser, working closely with the Development Director to continue and develop the high-level support work that maintains the College. You will build strong links with a range of stakeholders within the British Muslim community and beyond to raise the profile of the College and help deliver its mission, as well as develop strategic partnerships with academic and non-academic institutions to advance the College’s work.

Who are we looking for?

Candidates must demonstrate a track record of senior leadership, ideally within a higher education institution or relevant educational charity, or at a senior level within a public organisation. Candidates may have gained their senior experience as a Chief Executive or Deputy Chief Executive, or as an Executive Director or Dean. Sound knowledge of the higher education sector will be invaluable and, ideally, candidates will be familiar with Muslim educational opportunities or institutions in the UK and globally. Knowledge of the British Muslim community and commitment to its development is also important.
