University College Birmingham is looking for a Head of Media, Communications and Engagement to lead our newly developed Media, PR and Communications function.

It is an incredibly exciting time to be joining University College Birmingham, with a new partnership in place with the University of Warwick. In addition, the University won University of the Year in the 2022 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, the leading higher education awards based solely on student choice and has recently been shortlisted in 9 categories of the upcoming 2023 awards. We have recently welcomed our first cohort of further education students in construction and engineering, with more exciting curriculum plans for the future.

The Head of Media, Communications and Engagement is a new role, and will support in leading the University’s Media, PR and Communications strategy, leading on delivery of key activities to enhance the University’s reputation and actively manage our external engagement and brand profile.

The successful candidate will be the primary lead on development and delivery of activities to raise awareness, position the University regionally, nationally, and internationally, and ensure impactful communications to tell our story.

The role requires experience of leading public relations and media engagement, stakeholder engagement strategies to build and manage reputation and profile, and internal communications and engagement strategies and management.  The post holder will be an excellent communicator in all mediums, with the ability to motivate and support others to deliver.
