A vital role helping advance innovative solutions to climate change:

  • Join a dynamic team contributing towards reducing the University’s environmental impact
  • An exciting career opportunity developing, managing, analysing and reporting on environmental performance
  • Apply your skills in environmental accounting and data analytics

Position overview

The Carbon Accounting Manager plays a critical role in delivering the University’s commitments to reduce our environmental impact, with a particular focus on climate change. The role will play a lead role in the development, management, analysis and reporting of a range of environmental performance metrics, particularly around greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water and waste management, to support both GHG emissions disclosures and broader ANU sustainability reporting.

To excel in this role, you will have qualifications and / or experience in environmental management, environmental accounting, data science, data management and / or business analysis, ideally with a focus on greenhouse gas accounting. Experience with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and regulatory requirements such as National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERS), Australian Government Energy Efficiency in Operations (EEGO) will be highly regarded although training can also be provided.  You will be a strong communicator and collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills.

The ANU Goal

Currently ANU emits significant quantities of greenhouse gases (GHGs), contributing to one of the greatest challenges the world has ever faced: climate change. Our goal is to transition ANU from being part of the problem to becoming part of the solution – from a source of GHG to a net absorber of GHGs via the ANU Below Zero Program.  At the same time, through integrating real-life emissions reductions and GHG removal with our world-leading research and teaching on climate change and energy, we can fast-track new and innovative approaches. As Australia’s national university, we have the capacity to promote these innovations and engage the community providing leadership to other organisations in Australia and worldwide.

The Australian National University is a world-leading institution and provides a range of lifestyle, financial and non-financial rewards and programs to support staff in maintaining a healthy work/life balance whilst encouraging success in reaching their full career potential.
