The Position

The Communications Officer serves the communication needs of the Australian & New Zealand International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Consortium (ANZIC), which is hosted within the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). The position will also provide supports to the ANZIC Governing Council, Science Committee and IODP, assisting with ANZIC events and educational and outreach activities.

The Communications Officer will be a member of Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 14th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022). The Person

To excel in this role, you will have degree in marketing and/or communications or relevant experience, with demonstrated experience in the areas of marketing, copywriting and advertising, sound knowledge and demonstrated experience with digital and traditional marketing, specifically online advertising and its relationship with social media, search engine marketing and website development and maintenance. An interest in the Marine Geosciences field or equivalent experience would be an advantage.

Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
