Senior Research Fellow (Urban Solutions)

Job Description

The Centre for Advanced 2D Materials (CA2DM) is looking for a researcher who will integrate CA2DM research teams working on graphene-enhanced sustainable cement and concrete under the supervision of the CA2DM project lead.

The successful candidate will support the research, development, improvement, and optimization of CA2DM urban solutions in coordination with the team and is expected to:

• Employ scientific, technical, and product management skills in various applications using CA2DM proprietary geomaterial ​​​formulations, including chemistry and process optimizations (e.g., new cladding, surface and coatings)
• Develop analytical methods to perform extension characterizations and performance audits on materials, product functionality, process stability, and reproducibility
• Create experiment test plans and execute them. Track, monitor, analyze and interpret performance and reliability test results. Apply test results to make iterative improvements towards target product performance metrics, together with the team.
• Develop and deliver projects that meet the needs of experimental requirements
• Assist production process definition, validation, documentation, and scale-up planning

Qualifications

• You hold a Ph.D. in materials science, materials engineering, chemistry, or equivalent
• You demonstrate a minimum of two years of R&D or product development experience in materials science related to construction, coating, or chemical industries
• Ideally, you can demonstrate previous exposure to formulations and chemistries used in sustainable cement, construction, or geomaterial-related fields. In particular, some experience developing bio-based organic mortars and cement would be a plus
• You have the ability to resolve complex issues and make technical and product-related design decisions and judgments
• You are an inclusive and a genuine team player, who avoids self-promotion
• You adhere to high ethical standards
