About the College of Medicine and Public Health

About the Role

Flinders University are partnering with three Australian Universities to transform care and outcomes for people living with chronic kidney disease. The role requires a friendly and passionate individual to support the project teams by developing a patient involvement framework while also building relationships with key stakeholders. The Patient Engagement Officer will prioritise communication, both with patients and consumers, and across the University network, ensuring effective collaboration across the Centre for Research Excellence (CRE). The incumbent will also be responsible for operational project support and delivering training in patient-partnership to stakeholders.

About You

Flinders University are seeking someone who is an experienced people person whose key strengths are communication, with an ability to translate scientific and medical information to all peoples in plain language. You will be highly organised with a strong eye for detail, able to comprehend large projects with a diverse group of stakeholders and build effective relationships. Ideally, you will hold a qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience (Communication, Health, Allied Health, Nursing, Aboriginal Health and Education qualifications considered). Prescribed Conditions for Employment

  • A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
  • Please note that you may be required to provide evidence that you are up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, in line with the Flinders University COVID-19 Vaccination Policy 
  • If based in South Australia - It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA).
  • If based in Northern Territory - Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid 'Working with Children Clearance' (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
