The DFG-funded Base4NFDI project is a joint initiative of all consortia of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). You will help shape Germany's most ambitious effort to provide basic services for research data management. As part of a highly motivated team, you will work at the core of this effort. At the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Geosciences, the Chair of Geoinformatics offers a project position within the Projekt „Base4NFDI – Basic Services for the NFDI

Postdoc / Scientific Manager and Executive of the Coordination Office – Basic Services for NFDI (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 14 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible and limited until February 29, 2028.The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2)Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG).

Tasks:

  • executive management of the Base4NFDI coordination office and implementation of the project governance as well as support of the Base4NFDI steering group in the overall coordination of the project work on basic services and the coordination of the Base4NFDI service stewards
  • together with the coordination office, controlling of the scientific project progress and consolidation and coordinating the quality assurance of project results and progress reports
  • co-development of recommendations, publications and white papers as well as development of proposals for the adaptation of scientific project planning in the event of disruptions in the project process
  • monitoring and support of the International Advisory Board of Base4NFDI
  • co-development of cooperation strategies with various scientific institutions to establish joint operating models with the goal of sustainable operation of the basic services 
  • coordination with the committees of the NFDI and for the European integration of basic services with relevant stakeholders of the EOSC 
  • conception for scientific publications and presentations of project results as well as for scientific communication on Base4NFDI on national and international level.

Requirements:

  • university and PhD degree in a subject relevant to the domains of the NFDI consortia and the provision of basic services
  • extensive and long-standing experience and expertise at national and international level in the areas of research data management, scientific information infrastructures, and relevant infrastructural facilities and professional associations 
  • many years of experience in scientific work and understanding of research issues in different domains 
  • extensive experience in leading scientific teams and managing collaborative scientific projects
  • sovereign interaction with scientific management, decision makers as well as scientists of different domains and institutions on a national and international level
  • a high degree of independence, commitment, flexibility and team spirit
  • very good command of the English language.

The position at the Chair of Geoinformatics has a strong link to the NFDI4Earth coordination team, the Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) and the Contact Point for Research Data at TUD.
