About the opportunity

We are in a period of exciting and significant change in our Information Communication and Technology function as we strive to meet the ever-increasing demand for more and improved IT services. As a result, we are seeking an experienced Product Owner- Finance Product Line to join our team.

In this position, you will be responsible for championing and leading the development of ICT's portfolio of service that are primarily used for Education, Student Lifecyle, Research and Operations. The Product Owner- Finance Product line will also have a secondary role leading the delivery of these core service, including enhancements, to the University and requires domain experience in the relevant University Financial systems, student administration systems, applications, technologies and services.

This role will see you manage the full product line lifecycle ensuring the needs of customers are continuously met.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • partner with stakeholders across the University and ICT to understand requirements, prioritise and deliver work using an agile methodology to ensure ICT is at the forefront of technology supporting the University
  • manage the delivery of new features and enhancements, including working with ICT, vendors and SMEs across the University using agile methodology such as SAFe
  • lead prioritisation desired capabilities in product backlogs based on stakeholder needs and available resourcing
  • support organisational, process, and cultural change as required for the emerging products within ICT
  • foster an agile and customer-centric culture within the product teams by active participation and leadership
  • review the work performed by product team members where appropriate as well as provide mentorship and leadership to them.at product sprints and planning sessions

About you

  • ability to estimate scope and size of work including effort and time and carry out needs analysis based on the estimation
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary and pan-institutional team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • accuracy, attention to detail and highly organised. Planning, analysis and communication skills together with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
  • strong interpersonal skills, to motivate team members, help negotiate priorities, resolve conflicts, and deliver solutions to the business
  • financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for a project.
