About the Role 

Flinders University is at the cutting edge of clinical healthcare simulation nationally and is a world trailblazer in rural and regional health education. The Healthcare Simulation Hub team provides essential technical and laboratory support, Clinical Skills and Health Sciences store service, advice on Workplace Health and Safety for College activities and facilities, specialist input to laboratory design and construction, and timetabling of laboratory classes.

We are now seeking a Healthcare Technical Officer to join our team to provide technical advice and assistance for simulation activities that support clinical skills workshops for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. You will harness your expertise in clinical simulation to aid students during practical classes by maintaining equipment, such as simulated patients and high, medium, and low fidelity manikins, procedures, and techniques.

In this role, you will also:

  • Maintain, monitor, and supervise stock control for smooth operation of all programs.
  • Collate, record, report and resolve IT, AV and simulation equipment faults to minimise interruption to student learning.
  • Maintain current records relating to simulation information including products, licenses, software versions

About You 

You will demonstrate a high degree of initiative and experience in working with new and emerging healthcare simulation technologies. You will be an excellent communicator who harnesses their high-level interpersonal skills to develop strong and collegial relationships with staff, students, manufacturers, industry partners, and company representatives. Your natural ability to foster a positive and open team environment, will complement your ability to effectively supervise staff. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks, autonomously meet deadlines, and demonstrate commitment to high quality service delivery. 

To be successful in this position, you will be eligible for registration as a registered nurse or midwife with AHPRA and possess a current practising certificate or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training relevant to the position. You will have a demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, including management of hazardous substances.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment 

  • A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
