We strive to advance fundamental science, to create new technologies, and to work across discipline boundaries. Our College is an exciting place to research, study, and work, supported by best practice teaching methods, practical work-related learning, and advanced facilities.
About the Role
Flinders University is the only university in South Australia to offer entire programs in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). Our undergraduate programs consist of a three-year GIS degree, an Honours degree, and a double degree in GIS / Archaeology. At the postgraduate level, a nested set of graduate certificate, graduate diploma, and masters by coursework in GIS is presented to local and international students.
The team of GIS academic consists of a small but growing group of staff who present our GIS programs and undertake research in applied areas (including coastal change, wildfire detection and impact, forestry and groundwater). Strong networks existing between GIS staff, other Flinders research groups and industry have resulted in a supply of interesting research topics and subsequent employment.
In this role you will:
- act as a key member of the academic staff and deliver quality geospatial research.
- contribute to the planning and delivery of topics, including development of teaching materials and delivery of lectures/tutorials or other innovative teaching and learning strategies.
- prioritise, coordinate, monitor workflow and provide informal day‐to-day feedback to research support staff and casual academic teaching staff according to the University’s policies, practices, and standards.
About You
You will bring a collegial, collaborative, and supportive work ethic and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop, establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and industry.
You will hold an outstanding research track record and contribute to the College’s research strengths through high-quality publications and the attraction of competitive external grants.
To be successful in this role you will have a PhD in Geospatial Information Systems or a related discipline with demonstrated evidence of successful teaching experience at a tertiary level.
