We are looking for a Research Fellow to help us discover how to improve the shift patterns of nursing staff. As part of our study, nurses, their managers, and patients will be interviewed to design a discrete choice experiment aiming to understand nurses’ preferences and trade-offs around their shift patterns.

The role

You will join a growing interdisciplinary research group with world-leading expertise in health workforce organisation and will work on a study funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences. We have conducted ground-breaking research in the field and are now in the exciting position to move the field forward by understanding how nurses’ shift patterns can be modified. You will contribute to all aspects of the project including project management, data acquisition, database creation, data analysis and preparation of publications, according to your previous experience and seniority. The post is funded for 24 months with a fixed term contract initially, but we will work with you to identify opportunities for ongoing funding. The post is available part-time, and FTE will be agreed based on previous grade and experience but, ideally, it would be 80%. Depending on your disciplinary background, there might be opportunities for you to contribute to the School’s education provision.

About you

You will hold a PhD and experience in a health services research related discipline with a strong quantitative component (including but not limited to Health Economics, Statistics, Operational Research, or Nursing/Health Sciences with an advanced quantitative component). Experience in conducting advanced regression analysis and in data management are essential, and knowledge of discrete choice experiments is desirable. Candidates who do not hold a PhD will be considered for appointment as a senior research assistant.
