Located on a fantastic campus in south west London, the University of Roehampton has a strong and fast-growing reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. Ranked in the top 10 of London Universities, it has a clear sense of mission delivering transformative education that enhances the lives and employment prospects of its students and staff alike. With a history in education that dates back through our four colleges over 175 years, the University has been a pioneer in teacher training and has been providing education to women longer than any other university in the country. Today, Roehampton’s four founding colleges provide the friendly, welcoming community that makes Roehampton so distinctive, supporting student wellbeing, social life and the wider student experience.
Reporting directly to the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, this role will provide opportunities to represent the School on a range of university projects and initiatives as well as contributing to the work of the University’s quality, academic, professional and learning functions. The new Dean will work closely with University Executive Board members, including the Vice-Chancellor and the Pro Vice-Chancellors.
The new School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will be formed through a merger of two of our existing Schools in August 2023, and the inaugural Dean will inspire and engage colleagues, students, and external partners to maximize their talents and make them feel valued. We are looking for candidates who have a well-rounded understanding of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and who can identify new opportunities for the School, especially those driven by the digital transformation of society, organizations and the creative and cultural industries. Comfortable leading change, you will have an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven record of impactful leadership in either HE or related sectors.
