Job Description
This project aims to investigate the resistance of various cementitious materials against ballistic impact. Different types of green cementitious mixes will be considered, as well as 3D printed concrete materials. The failure mechanisms underlying the different materials will be compared, to understand the dominant mechanical properties influencing the resistance against ballistic impact.
The researcher will be required to cast and fabricate the various cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete, conduct the necessary mechanical tests and microstructural characterizations, as well as to conduct laboratory ballistic tests using the gas gun set up in NUS.
More information may be obtained from the journal article “Critical parameters for the penetration depth in cement-based materials subjected to small caliber non-deformable projectile impact.”
Job Requirements
- PhD degree in a relevant field, with experience conducting experiments involving cementitious materials, and at least one of the following:
- Experience in microstructural characterization tests;
- Experience in 3D concrete printing;
- Experience with laboratory ballistic tests.
- Open to fixed- term contract
