At the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, the Chair of Forming and Machining Processes offers, subject to the availability of resources, a position as
Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting June 1, 2023. The position is limited until May 31, 2025 with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissen-schaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.
Environmental protection is everyone's business - including manufacturing technology. It not only consumes considerable amounts of resources, but also represents a central enabler for more environmentally friendly products and services through more efficient manufacturing technologies. Planning plays a special role here, as it determines over 80% of the subsequent resource and energy requirements. At our Chair, we research and develop methods and technologies to leverage this ecological potential in an economically viable way.
Tasks: In a research project, you develop approaches for the calculation and design of sustainable process chains. In doing so, you not only combine different manufacturing processes with a focus on additive processes, but also use advanced modeling techniques and machine learning methods. Enormous potentials can be uncovered with intelligent planning approaches. Help us to raise these by not only researching in this field, but also communicating your knowledge to students and applying it in research projects in industrial practice. This highly challenging field of work offers the opportunity to participate in research into environmentally friendly manufacturing technologies and to make the world of production technology more sustainable. The perfect fit to enter the exciting and challenging world of science!
Requirements:
- good to very good university degree (master or comparable) in the field of information or technical sciences, preferably production engineering (very advantageous), mechanics or similar focus
- good programming skills in at least one high-level language and good knowledge of modeling and simulation techniques and/or good knowledge of machine learning methods as well as a strong interest to deepen that knowledge
- German or English (preferably both) fluently spoken and written
- well-developed organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team to complete the joint project in an industry-oriented environment
- the desire to make a difference.
A dynamic, international and harmonious research team awaits you. If you would like to research the technologies of the day after tomorrow today, we look forward to receiving your application.
