Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Theoretical Physics in the Physics Department at Royal Holloway.
This is a post to work on the quantum many body problem both via analytical calculations and numerical simulations. The post involves developing new tools relying on random matrix theory in order to understand strongly interacting and disordered quantum systems from a dynamical and statistical point of view. The work is funded by a research grant from the Leverhulme Trust.
The holder of the post will be expected to help produce independent and original research within the RHUL Physics Department, to submit publications to refereed journals, and to work together and supervise postgraduate and MSci students. In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in theoretical physics with a strong component on numerical simulations, as well as prior experience in one of the following theoretical physics tools: (i) perturbation theory (ii) tensor networks (iii) random matrix theory (iv) dynamical mean field theory (v) renormalization group theory or (vi) Density Functional Theory. Programming abilities in C, C++, python or Mathematica is required.
In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
- Generous annual leave entitlement
- Training and Development opportunities
- Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
- Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
- Free parking
